Lush, blackberry and blueberry fruit flavors, powerful aggressive and complex acidity. Some grapefruity citrus. Very full mouthfeel. A real specialty coffee.
It is considered that in the coffee-growing regions of Ethiopia there are over 10,000 separate genetic varieties of coffea arabica. In a remote southwestern part of Ethiopia lie the Amaro Mountains, isolated by two Great Rift Valley lakes, Chamo and Abeya. This remoteness has helped to create one of the most uniquely flavoured and sought-after coffees of the Ethiopian Heirloom variety.
It is well accepted that a native of the Amaro region has become one of the most inspiring figures in Ethiopian coffee today. Asnakech Thomas, as one of the Ethiopian diaspora, returned in 2005 to go into the farming and exporting of speciality organic coffee. A prime objective of hers is to improve the livelihoods and the well-being of the people of Amaro. Incidentally, Asnakech is Ethiopia’s only female coffee grower, miller and exporter.
We are proud to present to you this naturally-processed Amaro Gayo, a cup full of lush berry flavor, complex acidity and juicy body.
